Submarine Conference is a unique communications-focussed all-day bootcamp where we deep dive into frameworks, tools and best practices in communications that are targeted towards strengthening your brand presence, fundraising efforts, program impact and team culture.

The bootcamp is structured to be a highly collaborative experience packed with workshops, brainstorms and group critique spaces. Our sessions are curated to give you a 360 degree understanding of all aspects of communications, from research, to content writing, to design, to conversion & outreach strategies.

Leave with clarity, confidence and a clear action plan on how to speak, write and visualise better.

We will focus on giving you simple processes, easy-to-implement action plan to get you started on your own. These tools will help your team craft a more powerful brand story, know how to customise pitches for various stakeholders, create stronger materials, and streamline the way your org communicates.

Our ultimate goal with the bootcamp is to build capacity in you
(and in-turn, your org) to effectively integrate stronger communication and design practices into organisation’s workflow across departments.

Sessions Details

 Session 1
The starter kit to strengthen your brand communications for fundraising and expansion.

This session will give you a comprehensive run down of all materials and assets you need to elevate your organisation’s brand experience across stakeholders. You will learn about why and how to build each of the materials with details about timelines and resources needed to invest. The checklist will help you feel confident and clear about how to devleop your org’s starter kit customised for its annual goals.

 Session 3
Customising your narrative pitch for different scenarios and stakeholder

Your pitch is your brand narrative. It acts as the core nucleus of your communication efforts. Everything you create needs a strong foundational narrative. The session will help you learn how build a powerful brand/program narrative, and customise it for varied usages and stakeholders. You will leave this session with a framework that you can confidently use and that can adapt to your org requirements.

 Session 5
A simplified execution plan to document and showcase outcomes and impact (qualitative)

Qualitative impact plays a critical role in engaging with external stakeholders like funders and potential partners. This session will take you through the specific role that videos, photos, stories, qualitative information play in creating a level of understanding, empathy and urgency in the work that your organisation does. You will get guidelines on how to collect qualitative data, and an execution plan on how to put it together to present to your stakeholders.

 Session 2
Structuring a comprehensive annual communications strategy that adapts with your org goals

This session addresses the need for and power of a strong communications strategy. You will engage in a step by step process on how to build a strategy for your organisation, how to monitor it, and how to iterate on it as the year progresses. The session includes tips on how to get all departments in the organisations involved and contribute to your strategy.

 Session 4
Demistifying the creative implementation process

Sometimes, the hardest part of the work is the actual "building" process. This session will provide a framework to use to build your materials from start to finish. In addition, we will deep dive into the fundamentals of design. By the end of the workshops you should feel more in control of the process and confident to deliver top quality creatives within set deadlines. The process will help you manage time, manage expectations with external collaborators in the creative process, and keep you on track to achieving your targets.

 Session 6
The foundation of constructing an in-house communications team for the future

Getting the right resources is critical in achieving your communication goals. We will recommend the most impactful and cost-effective ways to achieve your targeted org goals. This could range from outsourcing a large part of your comms to building a full-suite robust in-house communications team. We will help you plan for and source the right mix so that you can get started with your newly designed strategy!

About the team behind Submarine

We are a small team doing targeted for organisations driving social change. We have been working hard in helping the market change its perception of the role of communications & design, and begin investing more in research-backed solutions. This has been a slow change. There is still a lot more work to be done, and a lot more support needed. The bootcamp was created to allow us to reach more organisations
at a faster pace and share our learnings in a simplified, tangible manner.

Over the last 8 years, our team has engaged with over 150+ organisations through its services, training & capacity building programs and short courses. Our partner organisations work across the field of Health & Nutrition, Education, Youth Leadership, Water, Housing, Road Safety, Community Development, Gender, and Women Empowerment.

What's the fee?

Fee: INR 11,500 + GST

What does the fee cover?

This is the participation fee. The fee includes access to all 3-days of sessions, workshops and lifetime access to resources/materials shared during the conference. It also includes lunches for day 1 and 2, and all-day refreshments during the conference.

Who is the conference for?

Submarine is designed to fit the needs of NGOs of all sizes, and experience levels. Whether you have a bootstrapped 4-person team, or larger multi-city team, the processes and frameworks is flexible to adopt. To maximise learnings from the bootcamp we recommend having a leadership-level member from your org to attend it. In the past we have had CEOs, Founders, Fundraising Heads, and communications managers part-take in our bootcamps.

What happens after the bootcamp?

4-6 weeks of customised 1-1 support to help you implement what you've learnt

Our team at Studio Subu has designed a post-bootcamp implementation assistance plan that provides a customised strategy and execution plan for your organisation. All Submarine participants have the option to opt-in for this support at a discounted fee.

The assistance will include an in-person 2-day 1-1 audit of your org’s current communications practice. The audit will allow us to co-plan a realistic action-plan for your priority-needs. This will be followed by 2-3 rounds of customised 1-1 feedback sessions to help you take your essential brand components to the finish line. You will learn about the details of this support during the conference.

Investing in communications is going to be a gamechanger for your org

Having a strong communication and design practice is the foundation for building high impact solutions, especially in the social impact space. It is critical for our market to see them beyond the conventional, demarcated roles/functions in a “comms team”.

It plays a critical role in almost all areas of an organisation’s work. It makes or breaks your fundraising efforts, the team culture, and influences the success of your program’s impact on ground to a large extent. It helps you create experiences that are more immersive, articulate, cohesive. Investing in it allows you to build a deeper andmore meaningful connection with your stakeholders, your internal teams and your end users.
